Have you noticed that some Christians walk through the wilderness, and others take a more direct route? Why is this?

God led the Israelites on the path through the wilderness. Notice what God says,

“Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.”  So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea.” Exodus 13:17-18

God led them by the way of the wilderness. The reason given here is that God did not want them to return to bondage out of fear. Whatever path God is leading you on, lay down your life to Him. Give up your old ways. Get on the road of righteousness, high way of Holiness.

“In the way of righteousness is life, And in its pathway there is no death.” Proverbs 12:28
