Why is God doing this to me?

Why did God do this? This question is often asked after someone we love dies or we have had a trauma that occurs in our lives (job loss, loss due to finances, relationship, accident or health). The answer can be perplexing and often hard to understand until you know who God is and who your enemy, satan, is. God is the author of life, and Satan is the one who brings death.

“The thief (satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10

I (God) know the plans I have for you, and they are good (Jeremiah 29:11). So, you might be asking, if God knows the plans, then how can this be good?

God’s plans are good. However, when we stray from God’s path (through temptation) and take the bait of the enemy and chew on it (sin creeps in), then the enemy has an open door to attack us. He will steal, kill and destroy, and that is his plan for you. Some may say, ‘Well, I have never sinned.’ That is not correct; we have all sinned and gone astray (Isaiah 53:6). We all have a sin nature derived from the fall of Adam (Garden of Eden). It is in our DNA. To make things right in your life, you need to ask God to show you what you need to repent of and ask God to forgive you.

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” Acts 3:19
