Why did God Rest? Exodus 31:17 says, “it will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.” He rested on the seventh day. Why? He is Elohim, the All-Powerful One, He did not need to rest. As I pondered the verse I came up with one answer after another…. Then it dawned on me that this world was created for His glory. He rested to glory in what He created, so He could see it was good. Should we not do the same to give Him glory on His Holy consecrated day.

May we always be in His presence and resting in His arms, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14
