Who touched me?
It always strikes me when Jesus asks a question; of course, He already knows the answer; He wants others to know, be enlightened, and have the eyes of understanding.
“And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?'” Luke 8:45 NKJV
Notice many were touching Jesus that day.
However, one woman reached out with a touch of hope, faith, and a yearning to be healed: the woman’s touch, haptomai, was different. The Greek word Haptomai means to cling, fasten, an intimate touch (like that with a lover).
“… Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” Luke 8:46 NKJV
The power that went out of Jesus that day was the ‘dynamis’ power to perform miracles. It was to show the multitude that this unclean woman who had been bleeding for twelve years, who had seen every human physician, spent all she had was going to be touched back by Jesus in the same intimate way as she cried for His lovingkindenss.
“And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Luke 8:48
