Solomon asked the question, “Who is like a wise man?” Eccl 8:1
So it begs the question, how do we become wise, and what are the attributes of a wise man?
“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” Three wise men came”. Mathew 2:1-2
Notice the wise men read God’s word and were aware of the signs of Christ coming, “I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.” Numbers 24:17
Second, the wise men sought the Messiah and brought gifts (Mathew 2:11), and when they came before Him, they worshipped the Lord. Today, if you’re going to enter God’s presence, you must seek Him with all your heart and bring Thanksgiving and praise (Psalm 100:4) and, once in God’s presence, worship Him.
Proverbs 9:10 says that Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If you want to be wise, see things God’s way, revere, honor and worship Him.
Lastly, a wise person will be radiant. “Wisdom lights up a persons face.” Eccl 8:1
