Who do you say I am?

Jesus asked His disciples a very important question. It is the dividing line between life and death.

“Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”

So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.” Mathew 16:13-17

What we believe in terms of who Jesus is, determines whether we will have eternal life. Many Religions believe in Jesus however we see some distinctions

In the Islamic religion, Jesus is one of the five greatest messengers of God. Islamist believe basically the same thing that Christians do with an extreme diversion from the truth. They believe Jesus was born to a virgin and was a man who lived and walked during historical times. However, they do not believe Jesus was God or the Son of God.

Mormons believe in Jesus. However, they do not believe that Jesus is part of the Trinity, a Triunion God. Mormons believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are three separate gods. They also believe the Father and Son each have a “body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s” but that the Holy Ghost “has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit.”

What does the Holy inspired word of God, the Bible say, “When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Mathew 3:16-17

1 Corinthians 8:6 says,“yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.”

If you have not accepted Jesus as your personal savior, the Bible makes it clear how to do this, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
