Who do you desire to portray?

Have you set up an image in your mind? If so, who are you reflecting? You will either resemble Satan or God. Look at Nebuchadnezzar, “the king made an image…” Daniel 3:1

God had just given the King a dream and told him who he was,

“You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory; and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all—you are this head of gold.” Daniel 2:37-38

Sound familiar? Where have we heard this before?

Gen 1:26-28 says, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

God has made us in His image and has given us dominion. This word image (selem) in Hebrew means “of resemblance, cut out of, representative figure.” The word image in Daniel 3:1 is in Aramaic (Tselem) and represents an idolatrous figure.

Nebuchadnezzar let God’s acclamations go to his head. Pride, insecurity and fear took over. As a result, he created a false image. Look in the mirror of God’s word, and let the Holy Spirit show you who you are reflecting.

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Cor 3:18
