Where is your heart?

Many people talk about how they cannot live without someone or something. The truth is that they have given their heart away. Is there something you can’t live without?

What is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it God? Shouldn’t it be? This is a heart check for many. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21, NIV)

God tells us that we are to guard our hearts above all else (Proverbs 4:23). So how do we guard our hearts and love as God does and not give our hearts away?

Jesus should be our first love, “These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.” Revelation 2:1-4

Do you remember when you first accepted Christ? How excited and overjoyed you were? You can have this again if you seek Christ first every day and make Him your focus and your life. He will fill you with His love, overflowing to whom and what God desires. You shall not want, for God is everything! He is our all and all.
