Where does my loved one go when they die? To answer this question, we must understand that humans are made up of a spirit, soul and body (1 Thess 5:23).
When a person dies the body and the spirit go back to where they came from originally.
Since God created man from the dust (Genesis 2:7) and the spirit was given by God, “The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it” Eccelssiates 12:7
Now, what about the soul? the Bible says in Genesis 2:7 “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (inner being of man, mind, will, moral being).”
Scripture goes on to say, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Mathew 10:28. We can only assume that the soul lives on as well.
“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.” 1 Thess 4:14.
