What Happens During Worship?
First we need to know what or who we are worshiping. As believers in Jesus, we worship God. But what miraculous thing happens when we worship? And what are different ways we can worship?
Singing (Psalm 21:13, 146:2), praying (Matthew 6:9), dancing (II Samuel 6:14), falling prostrate (Psalm 145:14) or kneeling (Psalm 95:6), and shouting words of His glory (Psalm 47:1) can all be ways of praising the almighty God.
Worship is a weapon of warfare against our enemy, Satan. Jesus used scripture to drive Satan away. (Matthew 4:9-11). I had a friend who said as she drove to work, the enemy kept trying to fill her mind with turmoil, so she turned on her praise music, because she knew Satan wouldn’t hang around to praise with her.
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on the earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV
