The word blessed in Greek is makarios, which means fortunate, well off, happy, content and fulfilled.
“BLESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” (Psalm 1:1-2)
Can we say we are blessed? There are conditions in the Bible to be blessed. We must diligently obey the voice of God, observe His commandments, don’t walk in the way of the ungodly or sinners, and delight in God’s instruction.
“if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:” Deut 28:1-2
