I just returned from an overseas trip.   I was teaching administrators on servant leadership. To start the group off, I had the participants share about their life.   I noticed a trend amongst the leaders as they shared; they would either state they had a happy childhood or not say anything.   The Holy Spirit led me to understand that a happy childhood is not normal in this country.  Some of the participants that didn’t share that they had a happy childhood; later confessed that something traumatic had happened in their life and what came to the surface was un-forgiveness.

I shared what I heard a Pastor once say, “our Heavenly Father has a list of transgressions/sins that He is holding and we are holding a handful of items that we need to forgive.”   Scripture says, “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Mathew 6:14-15

To appropriate all that the Lord has for us, we must forgive.
