Watch and pray
Watch, Keep looking at the cross. When our eyes are led astray by the enticements of the World, we fall asleep, and our focus has left the redemptive nature of our Lord and saviour and his shed blood, we fall away into temptation.
Our Lord said, “Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.”
Mark 14:38 KJV
Temptation was wrought from the beginning of creation. Eve did not keep her focus on the beauty of God and the blessings that were bestowed on her. After all Adam and Eve were blessed before they sinned (Genesis 1:28). They were not satisfied with the greatest gift they could be given, the fellowship and love of Our father. They desired more, what more could they have wanted? The more was what was before them the yearning and more of God. Yet they searched elsewhere out of the lusts of their heart. Watch and pray!
In Our Lords greatest hour of temptation. “…he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.”
Mark 14:36 KJV
Where were the chosen disciples, asleep, not doing as instructed. Watch and pray!
“While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.”
Matthew 25:5 KJV
Notice all the virgins slept, those foolish and wise. However, there were those who had their oil (Holy Spirit) in their hearts. Whose path would be lit by the truth. When the foolish virgins came to the wise and asked for some of their oil the wise said go buy your own. The wise virgins knew the cost. Jesus gave all He had, to give us all we did not deserve. Watch and pray!
we come into union with our saviour by watching and praying!
Let it not be our will Father but yours. Help us to see what we need to see. What you are you looking upon Lord that we need to pray about, Open our eyes of understanding so we may glorify you. May you be glorified Father in all we do and say.
“Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.”
Mark 13:33 KJV
