“1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime” And a good majority remain silent about the event.
Tamar was one of these women.
“No, my brother, do not force me, for no such thing should be done in Israel. Do not do this disgraceful thing! And I, where could I take my shame?” 2 Samuel 13:12
Scripture says that Tamar remained desolate, devastated. Shame came upon Tamar. Shame keeps us from functioning as healthy human beings. If you feel shame from some event that has occurred to you, you can go to Jesus. He understands.
“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
Jesus experienced great shame on the cross to give you glory.
“Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.” Isaiah 61:7 NKJV
