Thirsty?

Have you ever walked six dogs before? I can tell you first hand it is challenging. As I set out early to take the pets for their walk, I determined I could do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Even walk six dogs.

On the walk up the mountain, I noticed that the large dogs were stopping to drink out of pools of what I call dead water. I kept yelling at them not to drink the water for concern of them getting parasites. The thought crossed my mind that many are like these dogs and drink dead water and consume things, not of the Lord. Our Savior Jesus Christ gives us living water.

Isaiah 55:1 says, “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.”

Everyone thirsty for our Lord is invited to come to partake of the living water.

Jesus when talking to the woman at the well said, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” John 4:10

And then we see again Jesus declaring, “…Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive…” John 7:37-39

Through the Spirit and the redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ, those who are thirsty will be filled.

“For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.'” Revelation 7:17
