If you have ever walked on a slippery path, you become very cautious not to fall. In our walk with Christ, we would do well not to get on the slippery path.
“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” Romans 1:20-21
Paul is talking about believers, they knew God, yet they did not glorify God nor were thankful. This is the first step down the slippery path.
Repent now if you have not been thankful for what God has done in your life. Look at the consequences of the slippery path:
- Thought processes became corrupt and hearts darkened (Romans 1:21)
- Idol worship (Romans 1:23-25)
- Vile passions (Romans 1:26-27)
- God gave them over to a debased mind (Romans 1:28)
The ultimate consequences, “being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” 1 Romans 29-32)
