“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Isaiah 7:14
God proclaimed, through His prophet, that He would send a savior, Jesus, the Messiah “…The messenger of the Covenant…” Mal 3:1.
The word messenger in Hebrew means Malak and is one who is dispatched as a deputy, specifically of God.
Jesus came to do the will of His Father and bring us back into a covenant relationship. In order to be in a covenant relationship with God, there had to be a blood sacrifice and the propitiation of sin. So God provided the sacrifice, His son.
Are you in a covenant relationship with God? A covenant is between two parties who have binding promises to each other. When God makes a covenant, He promises blessings to those who listen and obey His word.
“how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.” Hebrews 9:14-15
