“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12

We honor our parents because they are God’s treasure. Honor means to show respect, to lift them up. If the only reason we honor our parents is because they birthed us, that is enough. God does not state any qualifications or reasons we should honor our parents. You may have had the worst parents in your mind. Yet, if you honour them, you are doing what God commands, and He will honour you with a long life.
