We have all been tempted to do something in our lives. Looking back, we either succumbed to the temptation or decided not to let it overcome us. The devil did not make you do it, and neither did God.
“Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” James 1:13-14
We are tempted when drawn away by our fleshy desires. God does, however, put limits to temptation.
God says, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
The easy way out of all temptation is to die to self.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
