Take inventory of your life

Take inventory of your life

What is pulling you away from the Lord? As I struggled to write this devotional, with my three dachshunds at my feet, I realized my pull was the soft tap of a paw and nudge of a little body against my leg saying come play with me. My focus was diverted. This was becoming a regular pull, one that was taking my time almost daily away from spending time with God. Something had to be done. I walked away and went to find a quiet place, where it was just the Lord and myself, where I could hear the soft whisper, “come to me.”

“Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.” John 12:35

Beware, darkness creeps in unbeknownst to a person.

“If you don’t obey the light, it will turn to darkness.” Oswald Chambers

Take a step in the right direction: bring everything to the Lord (He will shed the light on the situation); listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit (quiet your spirit; stop the busyness in your life); and, beware of any belief that makes you self-indulgent (that leads you to do what you want).

“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” Hebrews 3:15
