Struggling to focus?

Struggling to focus?

Distractions are a part of our daily lives. So much is catching our attention. As a result, you may be struggling to focus on God.

David, a man after God’s own heart, lost his focus.

It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.

Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold.” 2 Sam 11:1-2

Notice that this was a time that kings go out to battle. However, David stayed behind. He lost his initial focus and was not carrying out his kingly duties and then he was drawn further away by lusting after Bathsheba.

Sin always takes us further than we want to go. Looking upon Bathsheba was a temptation. When he acted upon the temptation, it became a sin. Unconfessed sin leads you down the wrong path.

Martha is another example of being distracted, “But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” Luke 10:40. She was distracted with “works” We can get distracted from our relationship with the Lord by service projects.

We need to keep our focus on the Lord and carry out our duties. “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.” Acts 20:28
