As I reflect upon this national holiday to remember those who have served our nation and lost their lives, my father comes to mind. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery amongst his fellow patriots, not by his request. But it seemed the right place for a man who was so humble and only desired to serve his country.
He served our nation at a time of great upheaval and change. It was not popular to be in the military serving in Vietnam. As a matter of fact, those that served were called baby killers. We should honor those in the military who serve our country and lay down their lives for our Freedom.
Ronald Regan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
We all serve something. It comes down ultimately to whether we serve God or Satan. Many forget that the United States national moto, signed into law in 1956 is “In God we trust.”
Do we trust God to heal the hearts of our nation? Do we trust Him to secure our Freedom?
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1 NKJV
Lord, heal the hearts of those that have lost loved ones. Lift them up in a mighty way. I pray this in Jesus’s name.
