Grief is a normal process that one goes through after a significant loss. Notice I said, “goes through.” When grief lingers on and afflicts your soul, then you may be dealing with a spirit of grief.
Psalm 6:7 says, “My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies.”
A spirit of grief can come upon you as a result of trauma and not allowing the Lord to heal your heart.
“Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in trouble; My eye wastes away with grief, Yes, my soul and my body!” Psalm 31:9
Remember, Jesus took all grief and sorrows on the cross. He understands your pain and is there to comfort you. Give Him all your pain, for He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows.
