When we think of enslaved people, we may draw upon the history of slavery in the United States. You may or may not be aware slavery was a legal institution that existed in America from 1776 until 1865. Enslaved people were forced to work on farms and in cities.
Many people are still slaves today, whether they realize it or not. When a person is enslaved, they have a taskmaster that controls them. What controls you? Does the Holy Spirit control your actions, or are they controlled by fear, anxiety, lying, selfishness, addictions, or adultery?
As Christians, we are slaves to God, to righteousness. Freedom is slavery to God.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
Walking with God (the truth), having a relationship with Him, and allowing Him to work in and through you brings true freedom.
“So now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.” Romans 6:19
