Should I cover my wound?

An old wives tale says not to cover your wound.    Doctors say that you need to cover your wound.    What should you believe?

A physical wound heals by the skin and body tissue repairing themselves after injury.   Depending on the condition of the wound and body this can take a short or a long time.  Exposing your wound to the open may inhibit healing.

However, sometimes an injury needs to be left uncovered, in the open.  Such as, emotional inner rawness and hurt that doesn’t seem to go away and a mental wound require a renewing of the mind (Romans 12:2).

Forgiving, confessing sins and receiving God’s love requires your wound to be opened and not covered up.

“But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” John 3:21

“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.” Proverbs 4:20-22
