A self-made man is deemed to be honourable in our culture. Yet we see in Daniel 4 Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon was likened to a self-made tree, prosperous and flourishing. Why is this bad? After all, society commends self-made people. It is obvious God has been left out of the picture. We see time and time again anything that is not made with God is not made and will not stand. If your loss, is as a result of your own doing, ask the Lord to rebuild the ancient ruins.

“They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.” Isaiah 61:4
