“Self” is the enemy of the soul. When your focus is diverted to yourself, it could be dangerous. It almost always means your focus has left the Lord. God’s word, (The Bible) is constantly telling us to keep our minds on Him (God). “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3
Self-rejection, self- criticism, self-hate, feelings of inferiority, insecurity, rejection take you away from the Lord. Lord
“[The Uselessness of Selfish Toil ] Then I returned and considered all the oppression that is done under the sun: And look! The tears of the oppressed, But they have no comforter— On the side of their oppressors there is power, But they have no comforter.” Eccl 4:1
So how do we overcome the enemy of ourselves, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Rev 12:11
Take note of the last sentenance of the verse, “and they did not love their lives to the death.”
When we are aligned with the Lord, our focus is on bringing Him glory. May you glorify Him today in all you do and say.
