Let’s get to the heart of the matter. We don’t know our own heart. If we think we do, we are deceived.

“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked;
Who can know it?  I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:9-10

“All deeds are right in the sight of the doer, but the Lord weighs the heart.” Proverbs 21:2

Trauma and losses can cause a broken heart. We can do a quick check of our heart by listening to what comes out of our mouth (Mathew 12:34). Jesus heals the brokenhearted (Isaiah 61).

“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23
