Roots

As I was weeding around my rose bushes this afternoon, I found as I pulled on a weed it would come up, but would have a root that continued horizontally twelve or more inches.

There are all kinds of roots; physical, emotional and spiritual. Jesus talked about roots when He spoke of the parable of the sower. It is important that we have deep roots in God’s word so that we can endure tragic times.

“But he who received the seed on the stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.”
