We have just wrapped up the Christmas and New Year celebrations, and as it should have been, a time of rest, yet it may have felt more like labor. How, as Christians, do we have a balance in our walk with Christ?
We should rest in the Lord, yet we are called to labor for Him.
“my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
1 Cor 15:58
When I think of labor, I think of giving birth. It is hard work. It is anything but rest. But what is produced in the end is glorious.
Can we rest and labor? Yes, we can. Look at what God did in the book of Genesis. He created all things, and then He rested.
“Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.” Genesis 2:3
The Bible tells us that everything has already been created.
“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” John 1:3
We need to allow the Lord to work in and through us. When we do this, we can rest knowing that God has everything in His hands.
