Rape, a four letter word

“Don’t force me! Such a thing should not be done…! Don’t do this wicked thing. What about me? Where could I get rid of my disgrace? … But he refused to listen to her, and since he was stronger than she, he raped her.” 2 Samuel 13:12-14

Rape is often treated like a four letter word, not spoken.   It carries the baggage of fear, shame, guilt, and hopelessness.

Walls are sometimes unknowingly built to fence off the trauma. You may be asking why did this happen or where do I go from here?  God’s word gives us good advice in circumstances such as these,  “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
