“Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1
How do we perfect holiness?
- Cleanse ourselves: Read God’s word. Christ “… might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” Eph 5:26
- Turn from things, not of God: “…whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” 1 Cor 10:31. If you are doing something you cannot give God glory, stop doing it.
- Ask Jesus to help you to forgive and cleanse you from all sin. “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Mathew 6:15
- Be Separate from the world: Jesus prayed for us to God, “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it” John 17:15-16
