Patience, do I want to pray for it?

I remember when my girls were in high school. I started praying for patience. I know what you are thinking, “Oh, you did not!” Yes, I did. I believe I had a moment of insanity.   As a result, the Lord gave me the desire to start running. If any of you have ever ran long distances than you know that your mind is always fighting you and telling you to stop, that this is too painful. As a runner, you must overcome the voice in your head by ignoring it and thinking about finishing the race.

Patience and endurance are needed during a loss. It allows the ability to bear great difficulty. The voices in your head that are telling you that you should just give up, this is hopeless, or I can’t go on anymore; you can ignore.

“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.” 1 Peter 1:6-7
