One problem after another?

In the book of Revelation, Chapter 9, when the fifth trumpet was blown, locusts were released from the bottomless pit, “They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months. And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.” Revelation 9:10-11

The spirits that were released from the bottomless pit were destroyer spirits to torment men. John initially said that these were locusts, and later said they were like locusts. Locusts usually will destroy vegetation and live only for five months. However, God gave these locusts, demonic spirits, the power to hurt men for five months.

The torment described in the book of revelation was so extreme that these men wanted to die but could not.

Destroyer spirits walk the earth today looking for a victim to torment. Destroyer spirits cause addictions, feelings of worthlessness, accidents, injury, poverty, infirmity, suicide, and death. I believe God allowed Satan to unleash destroyer spirits against Job and destroy everything that he owned. Notice God did not allow Satan to kill Job, but these spirits drove Job to wish he was never born.

It is not God’s desire to torment people. He desires that people turn to Him completely, and sometimes He has to take extreme measures to accomplish this.

“Now, therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart,

With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.” Joel 2:12-13

If you have been struggling, ask the Lord to deliver you. The Lord “… will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.” Joel 2:25
