Once saved, always saved?

magbo system

Many Christians believe if you have accepted Christ, you can’t lose your salvation. What do you think?

The Bible speaks of salvation in the past, present and future….

Past tense

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,” Eph 2:8

Salvation is a free gift. Can we give this gift away? Look at King Saul; the Holy Spirit was taken from him. And then look at Romans 1:21-25, where Paul speaks about people who knew God (intimately knew God) but did not glorify Him or show gratitude; God turned these individuals over to a depraved mind (Romans 1:21-25).

Romans 1:21-25

“because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.  Professing to be wise, they became fools,  and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like [h]corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”

Present tense

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” 1 Cor 1:18

Your salvation is at work right now in you.

Future tense

Mathew 24:13

“But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”

We must endure and not turn from Christ to be saved.

The word “save” in each instance is the Greek word “sozo,” which means to save, deliver, or protect:—heal, preserve, save, do well, be (make) whole.

We should never take our salvation for granted. Jesus died on the cross so you can be whole and complete in Him and have eternal salvation.
