Noise
We are exposed to so much noise in our world. What is some of the noise that can keep us from hearing God? Sometimes we pray and cannot figure out why we do not hear God’s answer. There can be noise of gossip or negative remarks, not only coming to our ears but through our mouths. Sometimes the noise can come through our eyes as we watch violence, backbiting, murder, and deceit through televised programming or social media.
So, how do we hear God when we live in a noisy world? Daniel fasted and prayed for twenty-one days as he waited for an answer from God. We see that God sent an angel to tell Daniel that God heard Daniel the first day, but His messenger, the angel, could not get through because he was fighting the fallen angels in the heavenlies on his way. The angel had to call for help from Michael the arch angel.
The noise we face in our lives everyday can be quieted as we turn to God’s word, meditate on it and fast and pray.
“Then he said to me, ‘Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.’” Daniel 10:12,13 NKJV
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8 NKJV
