Summers of the past can bring fond memories, as well as tug at your heart. My brother and I would stay with my aunt for a couple of weeks in the summer. She would drive up from Florida, pick us up and drive us back. My aunt had what many would call a different sense of humour. She would tell us scary stories on the way down, and when she was tired, pull over on the side of the road and go to sleep. She knew we wouldn’t be sleeping, and we would keep watch.
When we read the Bible, we see the things to come are pretty scary. Our saviour says to watch and pray.
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Mathew 26:41
“I rise before the dawning of the morning, And cry for help; I hope in Your word. My eyes are awake through the night watches, That I may meditate on Your word. Hear my voice according to Your lovingkindness; O Lord, revive me according to Your justice.” Psalm 119:147-19
