My Joy

Whose joy do you have in you? We hear Christians proclaiming all the time the Joy of the Lord is your strength. What is joy? Webster’s dictionary defines joy as “the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires.” We can do many things in life to bring us joy. But this is temporary. Jesus’s joy cannot be fabricated.

“…My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” John 15:11.

We can stay in a constant state of joy by abiding in Jesus Love (John 15:9). When we love the Lord our God with our whole heart, soul and mind (every part of us), we remain not only in joy, but an overflowing of joy. We have a confident hope and an unwavering state of peace and contentment.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Cor 13:13. Since love will remain, we will have everlasting joy.

There may be times (seasons) where it appears joy has left. “Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.” John 16:20

Our strength and hope are in Jesus, “My Joy.”

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. ” Romans 15:13
