Mourning the Past
In the book of Job, we see him grieving after his children were killed, most of his financial means were devastated and he was suffering with boils all over his body.
“Oh, that I were as in months past, as in the days when God watched over me…” (Job 29:2 NKJV) We know that God was still watching over Job, even if it didn’t appear to be happening. Job never turned his back on God, even when his friends told him it was his fault, because he must have some hidden sin to make all of these terrible events happen.
I have always been intrigued with the end of the story. It is an ending of forgiveness, which is not always easy. “And the LORD restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.” Job 42:10
