More excellent way

Shopping for gifts has drastically changed in the last century, from the Sears and Roebuck catalogue that came out in the late 1800s, shopping malls to Amazon and other online stores. When I shop online, I often find something I cannot do without for myself. Shopping in this fashion can lead to not seeking the best things for ourselves?

The Bible says to “earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.” 1 Corinthians 12:31

The best gifts come from the Holy Spirit. We don’t pick them out for ourselves. Bible says, we are to desire the best gifts, not lust for self-gratification, but to edify others/church (1 Corinthians 14:12), and in so doing, we find a more excellent way.
