When my husband and I were first married, we would send messages to each other and we would always proclaim our love for each other. One of us would always have the last word “I love you more.”
Our Heavenly Father speaks from the cross His love for us as His son took His last breath and proclaimed “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” John 19:30
At-one-moment, the atonement, all the consequences of sin due to us was taken.
“Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isiah 53:4-6
The precious sacrifice of our Father’s Son, Jesus, whispers, “I love you more.”
