The goal for all Christians should be to have the love of God perfected within them.
“whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” 1 John 2:5
So what does this mean, to have the love of God perfected within us?
In some sense, love is working for us and in us. God is love; God is doing the work to refine us, purify us, strengthen us, and make us whole and complete in Him (mature). Love is the main ingredient that does the job, and we are the catalyst for this recipe to work. The love of God is made complete in us when we follow God’s word and are a doer of His word. We manifest God’s nature through lifestyles that reflect Him.
Loving each other is the evidence.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.” 1 John 4:7, 12
