Loss and Painful Memories
When we associate the holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas with loving memories of the ones so precious to us, it can be very painful when we think of them never being physically with us again on this earth. So, how do we show thankfulness and gratitude at Thanksgiving?
We can try to think of special memories with the ones we shared our lives. But, what if we don’t have memories? What if our special one passed away before we could make memories? I personally have been in this situation. I had to think of something to be thankful for to celebrate the day. So, I praised the Lord for giving me such a special person, even though it was for a short time. Then I gave my grief to the Lord and asked Him to heal my broken heart.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 NKJV
