Learning Dependence
We hear a lot of talk about independence, but very little about dependence. A song came to mind this morning and I was singing, “Learning to Lean on Jesus”. The words are written by Lyn Alejandrino Hopkins.
As I was singing, “Learning to lean, learning to lean, I’m learning to lean on Jesus. Finding more power than I’ve ever dreamed, I’m learning to lean on Jesus,” I realized that I need to depend more and more on Him. In this world of daily chaos and trauma, who can I totally depend on when I am in physical, financial or emotional distress? Jesus is the only One I can think would be available, as others are experiencing their own traumas.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Matthew 6:33,34 NKJV
