As the time is closing in on the coming of Christ, you might want to consider the day of Judgement. How is God going to judge? In our own eyes, we may see ourselves as good and say I am definitely going to heaven. But are we? God says, “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;” Isaiah 64:6.
I do not believe God hands out passing grades.
As a matter of fact, He is going to judge His own people first, “For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?” 1 Peter 4:17
Obedience to the Gospel of Jesus Christ is critical. We need to confess our sins, turn to God and be a doer of the Word of God. God does judge by the measure of light we have received and He will be judging the intents of the heart.
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10
“For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;….then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries…” 2 Peter 2:4, 9-10
