As I was talking to my nephew’s five-year-old daughter, I asked her what she learned in school last week, and she said it is important to have a bucket that is filled up and not to tip others’ buckets over.
What the teachers were trying to teach these children is that each person carries an invisible bucket, and when the bucket is filled, they will be happy, and when it is empty, they are sad, and they should never empty someone’s bucket to make them unhappy.
As Christians, we are a vessel of God (like that invisible bucket) to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). When we are filled with the spirit, we have “..love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Gal 5:22-23
When we trust God, He not only fills us, He fills us to an overflowing to others.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
