In the last days

In the last days, “men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” Luke 21:26

God has said in the Bible 103 times “Fear not” or “Be not afraid.” We are told to do this, now how do we obey. After all, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, peace and a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7).

  1. We are to love. The primary commandments that Jesus has given us, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Luke 10:27
  2. Our thoughts must remain on God. God will keep us in perfect peace if we keep our mind fixed on Him (Isaiah 26:3).
  3. Sound mind, self-control is gained by adding “to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,  to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,  to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.  For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;” 1 Peter 1:5-10
