Thomas Gray’s poem Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College highlights that “where ignorance is bliss, ‘Tis folly to be wise.” Can we say it is better to not know about something or be lazy in finding out what is going on because we don’t want to worry? Many people take this path, especially when it comes to the devil or the prophetic word of God.
Thomas Jefferson said, “if ignorance is bliss, why aren’t more people happy.”
The Bible says, “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,” Acts 17:30 NKJV
Intentional ignorance about spiritual matters can lead to eternal separation.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” Hosea 4:6
Don’t be outwitted by Satan or ignorant of his devices (2 Cor 2:11), don’t go into captivity (Isaiah 5:13).
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 NKJV
