I think I can

The Little Engine That Could is an American fairytale published in 1930. This was not the first publication. The first publication was in 1906 entitled, “Story of the Engine That Thought It Could“, it was part of a sermon by the Rev. Charles S. Wing. Rev Wing’s sermon focused on the notion that every person on earth is an engine of God’s goodness. His wife was in labour while he was preaching the sermon. She died giving birth to her son. When the Pastor arrived at the hospital he was asked to fill out the Birth Certificate and he gave his son the name the Engine that Could.

The Little Engine That Could is in the top 100 stories for children. The book encourages children to persevere during difficult times and take on the tasks that may appear challenging. It is a story we all must remember.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”  Phil 4:13

“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5:3-4
