Humbled
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Phil 2:3-4
Human pride can be deceitful. We could deceive ourselves into thinking that we are humble. Can the realization of self-deception and selfishness be a means to be humbled? God will not humble us. But He will put us in situations so that we humble ourselves.
The tables were turned on Jacob who deceived his brother out of his birthright, “So it came to pass in the morning, that behold, it was Leah. And he said to Laban, “What is this you have done to me? Was it not for Rachel that I served you? Why then have you deceived me?” Genesis 29:25
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Galatians 6:7
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,” 1 Peter 5:6
